We always welcome new volunteers to our agency and our programs. Some volunteers have been volunteering with us regularly every week since 1989, while others may volunteer at one or two fund raising events per year. We do our best to accommodate your interests, skills and schedule. Volunteers can help with many things at Project Transitions:

We are in need of a volunteer to help with our monthly newsletter. This would be wonderful for a journalism major who is looking for experience.

An individual with marketing or donor relations experience to help with implementing our individual donor program.

Gardeners and landscapers are needed at our facilities to keep them an inviting place for our tenants. Introduce a monthly service project to your family, scout troop, youth group, circle of friends, etc. There are one-time and ongoing opportunities to fit your schedule.

We are in need of handymen and suppliers to aid in our quest to keep our properties in good repair. Some items we are in need of are new cabinetry, bathtubs, and appliances. We also are in need of the linoleum tile floors being buffed and refinished. If you are a handyman or have access to construction and building materials to donate, we'd love to hear from you.

Database and Website Administrator is needed to keep our database current and our website updated.

Volunteer groups (churches, civic groups, etc.) who would like to help with apartment make-readies when we turn over a unit to a new tenant.

Sign up to help with current events by clicking the "Events" tab above. From that screen you may sign-up for an opening at an event through Volunteer Spot.

Caregivers help residents with their daily non-medical needs. Volunteers provide companionship to residents as well as fulfill direct caregiver tasks such as helping residents bathe or assisting with personal care. Volunteers can also cook for the house, maintain the cleanliness of the house, decorate for holidays or do landscaping at Doug’s House.

General Volunteers sort and price donations, merchandise the store and window displays, provide customer service, run store departments, help plan and market store events and maintain store cleanliness.

Pick-Up Volunteers assemble a crew of friends, co-workers or church groups and bring larger furniture to the store from donors’ houses. Great for volunteers with trucks or SUVs.

Supper Club Volunteers gather a group of friends or co-workers and cook regular (typically weekly) meals for the residents of Roosevelt Gardens. A kitchen is available in our community center.

Programming Volunteers help run events and classes for the Roosevelt Gardens community. Volunteers have run: bingo nights, exercise club, movie nights, community gardening, sports nights, book clubs, cooking classes and parenting orientations.

Food Bank Volunteers are needed on Mondays from 2:30 - 4:30pmand Wednesdays from 11:30 - 1:00pm to hand-out the food to our tenants .

Bulk mail volunteers process mailings, as needed, in a fun, group atmosphere.

General Administrative Volunteers assist with data entry, pre-event planning, and special projects.

We always welcome groups, whether a group of co-workers or a student organization to come help out on a special project. We are happy to accommodate your group to help with painting, gardening, fence repair, or other larger tasks. Just let us know what you are interested in… Contact Blythe Plunkett at bplunkett@projecttransitions.org for any volunteer questions.
