Volunteer Needs

We always welcome new volunteers to our agency and our programs. Some volunteers have volunteered 4 hours a week since 1989, while others may volunteer at one or two fundraising events per year. We do our best to accommodate your interests and schedule, and our volunteer jobs are described below:

Doug's House

Caregivers: helping residents with their daily needs. Cooking, assistance with feeding, bathing, personal care, and helping maintain the cleanliness of the house.

Top Drawer Thrift

Store clerks: processing donations, assisting with merchandising, customer service, and store cleanliness.
Furniture pick-ups: bringing larger furniture to the store from donor's houses. Great for volunteers with trucks or SUVs.
Weekday volunteers: help run the store during the day Monday through Friday.

Roosevelt Gardens

Supper clubs: bring breakfast, lunch, or dinner once a month to residents.

Administrative Office

Bulk mail volunteers: help with mailings as needed in a fun group atmosphere
Admin support: assist staff with volunteer tracking or projects as needed

Fundraisers

Steering Committee Members: solicit cash sponsors and auction donors for our major annual events.
Event volunteers: greeters, table bussers, silent auction support, TABC-certified bartenders, set-up and tear down volunteers.

Special Projects

Your work/social group: we can accommodate Saturday morning groups to help with special projects at our programs. Painting, gardening, fence repair, and other projects are always welcome.
